Pursuant to section 222(4) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Order

1 Title
  • This order is the Maritime Transport (Marine Protection Conventions) Amendment Order 2014.

2 Commencement
  • This order comes into force on the 28th day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

3 Principal order
4 Clause 3 amended (Certain international conventions declared to be marine protection conventions)
  • After clause 3(e), insert:

    • (f) Protocol Relating to Intervention on the High Seas in Cases of Pollution by Substances other than Oil, 1973:

    • (g) International Convention on Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage, 2001.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on the 28th day after the date of its notification in the Gazette, amends the Maritime Transport (Marine Protection Conventions) Order 1999 (the principal order). The principal order declares 5 international conventions to which New Zealand is a party as marine protection conventions for the purposes of Parts 18 to 27 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994. This amendment order declares 2 more international conventions as marine protection conventions for the same purposes.
