This notice is administered by the Ministry for Primary Industries.

Pursuant to section 20 of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister for Primary Industries gives the following notice after complying with section 21 of that Act.

Notice

1 Title

This notice is the Fisheries (Total Allowable Commercial Catch) Amendment Notice 2014.

2 Commencement

This notice comes into force on 30 September 2014.

3 Application

This notice applies on and from the first day of the fishing year starting on 1 October 2014.

4 Principal notice

This notice amends the Fisheries (Total Allowable Commercial Catch) Notice 2009 (the principal notice).

5 Schedule amended

(1)

In the Schedule, insert in its appropriate alphabetical order the item set out in Schedule 1 of this notice.

(2)

In the Schedule, replace each item relating to a fishstock code specified in the third column of Schedule 2 of this notice with the corresponding item in that Schedule 2.

6 Consequential amendment to Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Notice 1986

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice amends the Fisheries (Total Allowable Commercial Catch) Notice 2009. It comes into force on 30 September 2014, but applies on and from the first day of the fishing year starting on 1 October 2014.

The amendments set or vary the total allowable commercial catch (TACC) for quota management stocks with certain fishstock codes, as follows:

  • Blue moki

  • for MOK3, the TACC is increased to 160 greenweight tonnes:

  • Hoki

  • for HOK1, the TACC is increased from 150 000 to 160 000 greenweight tonnes:

  • Orange roughy

  • for ORH2A, the TACC is reduced from 875 to 488 greenweight tonnes:

  • for ORH2B, the TACC is reduced from 140 to 60 greenweight tonnes:

  • for ORH3A, the TACC is reduced from 415 to 177 greenweight tonnes:

  • for ORH3B, the TACC is increased from 4 500 to 5 000 greenweight tonnes:

  • for ORH7A, the TACC is increased from 500 to 1 600 greenweight tonnes:

  • Southern bluefin tuna

  • for STN1, the TACC is increased from 817 to 971 greenweight tonnes.
