Explanatory memorandum

This memorandum is not part of the determination, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This determination amends the Local Government Elected Members (2016/17) (Certain Local Authorities) Determination 2016 (the principal determination), which was made in June 2016. The amendments come into effect on the dates specified in clause 2.

The reasons for the amendments are as follows:

  • all clauses except clause 4(4) and (5) provide for changes in representation arrangements promulgated by the Local Government Commission that come into effect after the 2016 triennial general election of members:

  • clause 4(4) and (5) corrects an error in the principal determination.

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.

Date of notification in Gazette: 1 September 2016.
