Explanatory memorandum

This memorandum is not part of the determination, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This determination amends the Local Government Members (2016/17) (Canterbury Regional Council) Amendment Determination 2017. That determination made amendments to the remuneration payable to the chairperson of the Canterbury Regional Council and to specified committee chairpersons, committee members, and councillors. The amendments were all deemed to have come into force on 8 December 2016. This determination amends that deemed commencement provision so that—

  • the changes that relate to the chairperson are deemed to have come into force on 8 December; and

  • the changes that relate to committee chairpersons, committee members, and councillors are deemed to have come into force on 17 November 2016.

These amendments to the deemed commencement dates are made at the request of Canterbury Regional Council.

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.

Date of notification in Gazette: 30 March 2017.
