This order is made under section 2(5) of the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

Order

1 Title

This order is the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act Commencement Order 2017.

2 Commencement of sections 80 to 140 of Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017

Sections 80 to 140 of the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017 come into force on 1 January 2019.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings sections 80 to 140 of the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017 (the Act) into force on 1 January 2019.

Most of the Act’s provisions come into force on 1 July 2017. Sections 80 to 140, which relate to levies, come into force on 1 January 2019 to allow some time for preparation for the commencement of those provisions.
