Fisheries (Schedule 8) Order 2018

This order is made under section 74(7) of the Fisheries Act 1996


on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and


on the recommendation of the Minister of Fisheries made after complying with that section.


1 Title

This order is the Fisheries (Schedule 8) Order 2018.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 30 September 2018.

3 Application

This order applies on and from the first day of the fishing year starting on 1 October 2018.

4 Amendment to Schedule 8 of Fisheries Act 1996


This clause amends the Fisheries Act 1996.


In Schedule 8, Part 1, revoke the items relating to—


LFE11, LFE12, LFE13, LFE14, LFE15, and LFE16; and


SFE11, SFE12, SFE13, SFE14, SFE15, and SFE16.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 30 September 2018, amends Schedule 8 of the Fisheries Act 1996 by removing the minimum holdings of annual catch entitlement for South Island long-finned and short-finned eels, following a review by the Ministry for Primary Industries.

This order is a confirmable instrument under section 47B of the Legislation Act 2012. It is revoked at the end of 2019, unless earlier confirmed by an Act of Parliament. That stated time is the applicable deadline under section 47C(1)(b) of that Act.
