These regulations are made under section 85 of the Road User Charges Act 2012 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

Regulations

1 Title

These regulations are the Road User Charges (Rates) Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2020.

2 Commencement

These regulations come into force on 14 August 2020.

3 Principal regulations

These regulations amend the Road User Charges (Rates) Regulations 2015 (the principal regulations).

4 Schedule 4 amended

In Schedule 4, item relating to Type H vehicle number H73, replace “771” with “711”.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 14 August 2020, amend the Road User Charges (Rates) Regulations 2015 by replacing the rate of road user charge for vehicles of RUC vehicle type H73: the charge of $771 per 1,000 km of distance travelled by the vehicle is replaced by a charge of $711.

These regulations are a confirmable instrument under section 47B of the Legislation Act 2012. They are revoked at the close of 30 June 2021, unless earlier confirmed by an Act of Parliament. That stated time is the deadline under section 47C(1)(a) of that Act.

Regulatory impact assessment

The Ministry of Transport produced a regulatory impact assessment on 3 March 2020 to help inform the decisions taken by the Government relating to the contents of this instrument.
