Climate Change (Emissions Trading and Renewable Preference) Bill

Proposed motion to divide Bill into 2 Bills

Hon David Parker, in Committee, to move as follows:

That the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, Part 1, and the Schedule be a separate Bill, and that for the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and the Part 1 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Climate Change Response (Emissions Trading) Amendment Act 2008.

2 Commencement

  • (1) Sections 148B and 158A of the Climate Change Response Act 2002 (as inserted by section 43 of this Act) come into force on a date to be appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council on the recommendation of the Minister responsible for the administration of the Climate Change Response Act 2002 made in accordance with section 44A of this Act.

    (2) Sections 64A to 64D of this Act come into force on 1 January 2009.

    (3) The rest of this Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that for the Part 2 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Electricity (Renewable Preference) Amendment Act 2008.

2 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper divides the Climate Change (Emissions Trading and Renewable Preference) Bill into the following 2 Bills:

  • the Climate Change Response (Emissions Trading) Amendment Bill:

  • the Electricity (Renewable Preference) Amendment Bill.
