Commerce Commission (International Co-operation, and Fees) Bill


Proposed motion to divide Bill into 4 Bills

Hon Craig Foss, in Committee, to move as follows:

That the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, subpart 1 of Part 1, and Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that for the enacting words and clauses 1 and 2 there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • This Act is the Commerce (International Co-operation, and Fees) Amendment Act 2012.

2 Commencement
  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That subpart 2 of Part 1 be a separate Bill, and that for the subpart 2 heading and clause 7 there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • This Act is the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance (International Co-operation) Amendment Act 2012.

2 Commencement
  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

3 Principal Act amended
  • This Act amends the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003.

That subpart 3 of Part 1 be a separate Bill, and that for the subpart 3 heading and clause 9 there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • This Act is the Fair Trading (International Co-operation) Amendment Act 2012.

2 Commencement
  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

3 Principal Act amended
  • This Act amends the Fair Trading Act 1986.

That subpart 4 of Part 1 be a separate Bill, and that for the subpart 4 heading and clause 11A there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • This Act is the Telecommunications (International Co-operation) Amendment Act 2012.

2 Commencement
  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

3 Principal Act amended
  • This Act amends the Telecommunications Act 2001.


Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper divides the Commerce Commission (International Co-operation, and Fees) Bill into 4 Bills, each of which will become a separate amendment Act. The SOP has been prepared on the assumption that the amendments proposed by SOP 274 (to insert a new subpart 4, relating to the Telecommunications Act 2001, into Part 1 of the Bill) have been agreed to. The 4 new Bills will be the following:

  • Commerce (International Co-operation, and Fees) Amendment Bill:

  • Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance (International Co-operation) Amendment Bill:

  • Fair Trading (International Co-operation) Amendment Bill:

  • Telecommunications (International Co-operation) Amendment Bill.
