Hon Christopher Finlayson, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
In clause 12(3)(c), replace
“claim to which subsection (2) applies” (line 19 on page 19) with
“claim, to the extent that the claim relates to Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei or a representative entity and subsection (2) applies to the claim,”.
In clause 12(4)(b), after
“the claim” (line 36 on page 19), insert
“relates to Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei or a representative entity and”.
In clause 27(1)(a), replace
“Economic Development” (line 10 on page 26) with
“Business, Innovation, and Employment”.
This Supplementary Order Paper (SOP) makes 3 technical amendments to the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Claims Settlement Bill (the Bill).
The first 2 amendments, in clause 12(3)(c) and (4)(b), each add words to specifically refer to Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei or a representative entity for consistency with the other provisions of clause 12.
The SOP also amends clause 27(1)(a) of the Bill by replacing a reference to the Ministry of Economic Development with a reference to the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment. The Ministry of Economic Development was abolished on 1 July 2012 and its functions transferred to the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
