Legal Assistance Amendment Bill


Proposed motion to divide Bill into 6 Bills

Hon Judith Collins, in Committee, to move as follows:

That the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and Part 1 be a separate Bill, and that the enacting words and clauses 1 and 2, and the Part 1 heading be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • This Act is the Legal Services Amendment Act 2013.

2 Commencement
  • (1) This Act comes into force on a date to be appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council, and 1 or more orders may be made appointing different dates for different provisions.

    (2) If any provision of this Act has not earlier been brought into force under subsection (1), it comes into force on the day that is 1 year after the date on which this Act receives the Royal assent.

That subpart 1AA of Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that the Part 2 and subpart 1AA headings and clause 23A be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • This Act is the Accident Compensation Amendment Act 2013.

2 Commencement
  • (1) This Act comes into force on a date to be appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council, and 1 or more orders may be made appointing different dates for different provisions.

    (2) If any provision of this Act has not earlier been brought into force under subsection (1), it comes into force on the day that is 1 year after the date on which this Act receives the Royal assent.

3 Principal Act
  • This Act amends the Accident Compensation Act 2001 (the principal Act).

That subpart 1 of Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that the subpart 1 heading and clause 24 be replaced with:

  • This Act is the Care of Children Amendment Act 2013.

2 Commencement
  • (1) This Act comes into force on a date to be appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council, and 1 or more orders may be made appointing different dates for different provisions.

    (2) If any provision of this Act has not earlier been brought into force under subsection (1), it comes into force on the day that is 1 year after the date on which this Act receives the Royal assent.

3 Principal Act
  • This Act amends the Care of Children Act 2004 (the principal Act).

That subpart 2 of Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that the subpart 2 heading and clause 31 be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

  • This Act is the Child Support Amendment Act (No 2) 2013.

2 Commencement
  • (1) This Act comes into force on a date to be appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council, and 1 or more orders may be made appointing different dates for different provisions.

    (2) If any provision of this Act has not earlier been brought into force under subsection (1), it comes into force on the day that is 1 year after the date on which this Act receives the Royal assent.

  • This Act amends the Child Support Act 1991 (the principal Act).

That subpart 5 of Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that the subpart 5 heading and clause 44 be replaced with:

  • This Act is the Family Proceedings Amendment Act 2013.

2 Commencement
  • (1) This Act comes into force on a date to be appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council, and 1 or more orders may be made appointing different dates for different provisions.

    (2) If any provision of this Act has not earlier been brought into force under subsection (1), it comes into force on the day that is 1 year after the date on which this Act receives the Royal assent.

  • This Act amends the Family Proceedings Act 1980 (the principal Act).

That subpart 6 of Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that the subpart 6 heading and clause 49 be replaced with:

  • This Act is the Property (Relationships) Amendment Act 2013.

2 Commencement
  • (1) This Act comes into force on a date to be appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council, and 1 or more orders may be made appointing different dates for different provisions.

    (2) If any provision of this Act has not earlier been brought into force under subsection (1), it comes into force on the day that is 1 year after the date on which this Act receives the Royal assent.

3 Principal Act
  • This Act amends the Property (Relationships) Act 1976 (the principal Act).
