Objectionable Publications and Indecency Legislation Bill


Proposed motion to divide Bill into 5 Bills

Hon Judith Collins, in Committee, to move as follows:

That the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and subpart 1 of Part 1 be a separate Bill, and that the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and the Part 1 and subpart 1 headings be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • This Act is the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification (Objectionable Publications) Amendment Act 2014.

2 Commencement
  • This Act comes into force on the 28th day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That subpart 2 of Part 1 be a separate Bill, and that the subpart 2 heading be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • This Act is the Customs and Excise (Objectionable Publications) Amendment Act 2014.

2 Commencement
  • This Act comes into force on the 28th day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That subpart 1 of Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that the Part 2 and subpart 1 headings be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • This Act is the Crimes (Indecency) Amendment Act 2014.

2 Commencement
  • This Act comes into force on the 28th day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That subpart 2 of Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that the subpart 2 heading be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • This Act is the Accident Compensation (Cover for Mental Injury—Indecency Offences) Amendment Act 2014.

2 Commencement
  • This Act comes into force on the 28th day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That subpart 3 of Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that the subpart 3 heading be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
  • This Act is the Vulnerable Children (Children’s Worker Safety Checking—Indecency Offence) Amendment Act 2014.

2 Commencement
  • This Act comes into force on the 28th day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.
