Social Security (Commencement of Benefits) Amendment Bill

Proposed amendment

Hon Anne Tolley, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

Clause 5

Replace clause 5(2)(d) with:

(d)

that relates to the commencement of a benefit on or after 20 May 2014 and is the subject of an application for a review under section 10A of the principal Act made at any time during the period—

(i)

beginning with the commencement of this Act; and

(ii)

ending on the close of 8 January 2016; or

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Social Security (Commencement of Benefits) Amendment Bill (the Bill). The amendment provides that the proposed amendments in clause 4 of the Bill do not apply in the case of any decision or determination made before the commencement of the Bill that relates to the commencement of a benefit on or after 20 May 2014 and that is the subject of an application for review under section 10A of the Social Security Act 1964 made at any time during the period beginning with the commencement of the Bill and ending on the close of 8 January 2016. The amendment, in effect, extends the originally proposed period to account for the holidays.
