After clause 327 (page 242), insert:

Review of Act

327A Review of Act

(1)

The Minister must, as soon as practicable after the seventh anniversary of the date on which all of Parts 1 to 9 have commenced, start a review of the operation and effectiveness of Parts 1 to 9 in accordance with the terms of reference set by the Minister.

(2)

The Minister must—

(a)

prepare a report on the review; and

(b)

present the report to the House of Representatives within 18 months after the start of the review.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper amends SOP No 279, which amends Te Ture Whenua Māori Bill. The amendment inserts a new provision into the part of the Bill that will become Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 2017. The provision requires the Minister to start a review of the operation and effectiveness of that Act as soon as practicable after the seventh anniversary of the date on which all of the Act has commenced. The Minister must prepare a report on the review and present it to the House of Representatives.

Departmental disclosure statement

Te Puni Kōkiri is required to prepare a disclosure statement to assist with the scrutiny of this Supplementary Order Paper. The disclosure statement provides access to information about any material policy changes to the Bill and identifies any new significant or unusual legislative features of the Bill as amended.
