Conservation (Infringement System) Bill

Proposed amendment

Hon Eugenie Sage, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

Clause 14: new section 27A(1)(e)

In clause 14, new section 27A(1)(e), after “Act” (page 20, line 33), insert “or under any regulations made under this Act”.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Conservation (Infringement System) Bill. The proposed amendment creates a new infringement offence in the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978 for failing to comply with a notice, direction, restriction, requirement, or condition given, made, or imposed under regulations made under that Act.

Departmental disclosure statement

The Department of Conservation is required to prepare a disclosure statement to assist with the scrutiny of this Supplementary Order Paper. The disclosure statement provides access to information about any material policy changes to the Bill and identifies any new significant or unusual legislative features of the Bill as amended.

Regulatory impact assessment

The Regulatory Quality Team at the Treasury has determined that a regulatory impact assessment is not required for the decisions in this paper because the relevant issues have already been addressed by existing impact analysis.
