Proposed amendments

Steffan Browning, in Committee, to move the following amendments:

Clause 35

In clause 35(5), replace sections 36 to 42 with sections 36 to 38 (lines 1 and 2 on page 40).

Clauses 39 to 42

Delete clauses 39 to 42 (line 23 on page 41 to line 7 on page 44).

Clause 44

Delete clause 44(2) (lines 18 to 22 on page 44).

Clause 72

Delete clause 72(4) (lines 9 to 12 on page 64).

Clause 292

Delete the heading above clause 292(1)(g) and clause 292(1)(g) and (h) (lines 1 to 9 on page 152).

Delete the heading above clause 292(1)(k) and clause 292(1)(k) and (l) (lines 16 to 20 on page 152).


Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper is consequential on Supplementary Order Paper No 124, which clarifies that patents must not be held over life (which is not a patentable invention), and which includes all organisms, micro-organisms, and their traits. This Supplementary Order Paper removes provisions that relate to patents of, and the management of, patented micro-organisms.
