Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper protects the entitlement to parental leave of those employees being transferred to the new WorkSafe New Zealand Crown entity. This is in addition to protections in clause 12 regarding KiwiSaver and the Employment Relations Act 2000. This amendment is necessary given the recent precedent in the broader public sector of an employee who lost entitlement to parental leave due to a technical change of employer, despite continuing to do the same job at the same place.
