An Act to amend “An Act to promote the Use of the Rifle in the Province of Nelson,”
passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the late Province of Nelson.
Preamble.
WHEREAS an Act was passed by the Superintendent of the late Province of Nelson, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, in Session VII., No. 3, intituled “An Act to promote the Use of the Rifle in the Province of Nelson”
(hereinafter called “the said Act”
): And whereas it is expedient to amend the said Act:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Nelson Rifle Prize Act Amendment Act, 1877·”
2 How interest of investments under Act to be applied.
It shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time to layout and expend the annual interest already accrued and to be from time to time received from investments authorized by the said Act in such manner and for such purposes connected with the several Volunteer corps in the Provincial District of Nelson as shall be certified to the Governor by the senior commissioned officers for the time being of the several Volunteer corps in such provincial district as most beneficial for such Volunteer corps: Provided that the sum of twenty-five pounds at least in each year shall be expended out of such interest for the purpose of prizes for rifle-shooting, to be competed for by members of such Volunteer corps.
