An Act to grant a Pension to John Danforth Greenwood, Esquire, late Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Representatives.
Preamble.
WHEREAS John Danforth Greenwood, Esquire, lately Sergeant-at- Arms of the House of Representatives, has resigned his office on account of advanced age, and it is just that a pension should be granted to him for the remainder of his life:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Greenwood Pension Act, 1877.”
2 Pension of £120 per annum granted to J. D. Greenwood, Esq.
There shall be paid to the said John Danforth Greenwood, out of the consolidated revenue of the colony, an annual sum of one hundred and twenty pounds for the term of his natural life, commencing from the twenty-fifth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven, and payable quarterly on the fifth day of October, January, April, and July in each year, and the first of such payments to commence and be made on the fifth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight.
