An Act to increase the Borrowing Powers of the Thames Harbour Board, and to amend the provisions of “The Thames Harbour Board Act, 1878,” in respect thereof.

Preamble.

WHEREAS it is desirable to amend the provisions of “The Thames Harbour Board Act, 1878,” in so far as it affects the powers of the Thames Harbour Board to borrow moneys thereunder:

Be it there Fore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title.

The Short Title of this Act is “The Thames Harbour Board Act 1878 Amendment Act, 1879.”

2 Certain provisions of the Act of 1878 repealed.

Notwithstanding anything in section nine of “The Thames Harbour Board Act, 1878,” or in any other section therein contained, it shall be lawful for the Thames Harbour Board to borrow and take up at interest, not exceeding seven per centum per annum, any sum (including any amounts winch may have, under the authority of the said Act, been raised before the passing of this Act) not exceeding in the whole the sum of twenty-five thousand pounds, and this Act shall be deemed to be a special Act for that purpose.
