An Act to enable the Christchurch City Council to borrow the sum of Six Thousand Pounds for the Purpose of defraying the Cost of Municipal Offices.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The City of Christchurch Municipal Offices Act, 1886.”
2 Christchurch City Council may borrow moneys to defray cost of municipal offices.
The Mayor, Councillors, and citizens of the City of Christ-church may, by special order, and without taking any poll, or obtaining the consent of the citizens thereto, borrow the sum of six thousand pounds, at interest, for the purpose of defraying the cost of building the municipal offices now in course of erection upon Reserve number ten, Oxford Terrace West, in the City of Christchurch, and of furnishing and fitting such offices.
3 Moneys borrowed, how repaid.
Such principal moneys and interest shall be repayable within twenty years from the date of borrowing the same, and the said Mayor, Councillors, and citizens may repay such principal moneys and interest out of the ordinary revenue of the said city, and may issue debentures for such principal moneys and interest, having a currency not exceeding twenty years, chargeable upon general revenue.
4 Provisions of Municipal Corporations Act relating to loans to apply hereto.
The provisions contained in “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,”
Part X., relating to loans, which are not inconsistent with anything contained in this Act, shall apply to any loan or moneys borrowed under the authority of this Act.
