An Act to vest in the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, Auckland, New Zealand, a certain Reserve, and to authorise the Disposition thereof.
Preamble.
WHEREAS it was enacted by "The Epsom and Mount Eden Reserves Act, 1890,” that five acres of land situated in the Suburbs of Auckland, and being part of allotment forty-six of section six of the Suburbs of Auckland aforesaid, should be set apart as a reserve for a blind asylum:
And whereas the position of the said land renders it unsuitable for the erection of buildings for an institute for the blind; and the Jubilee Institute for the Blind in Auckland has been incorporated, as hereinafter mentioned, and has purchased freehold land and buildings in a more suitable position in Parnell, which are now occupied by blind persons from all parts of the colony, and such buildings will require to be enlarged:
And whereas it is expedient that the five acres aforesaid at Epsom be vested in the said Jubilee Institute for the Blind, with power to dispose of the said land and expend the proceeds of such disposition in erecting buildings on the land already acquired for the same objects for which the aforesaid five acres were reserved:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Jubilee Institute for the Blind Reserve Act, 1894.”
2 Reserve vested in Jubilee Institute for the Blind, with power to dispose thereof.
The lands described in the Schedule hereto, which by the provisions of “The Epsom and Mount Eden Reserves Act, 1890,”
were authorised to be vested in trustees as a site for an asylum for the blind, are hereby vested, in fee-simple, in the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, the contributors whereof have been incorporated as a separate institution under “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885,”
with power to the said Institute to sell, let, or otherwise dispose of the said lands or any part thereof from time to time in such manner, at such price, and subject to such conditions as shall be thought fit, to execute assurances to any purchaser or lessee, receive the purchase-moneys and rents, and to apply the proceeds of any such sale, lease, or other disposition for the purpose of erecting buildings of a permanent character elsewhere, or for adding to or extending or re-erecting any such buildings that the said Institute may from time to time hold for the like objects.
