An Act to vest in the Borough of Mataura a certain Reserve of Land situated within the Town of Mataura, free from any Trust for the Society sometime known as “The Mataura Pastoral Society,”
and now extinct.
Preamble.
WHEREAS a certain piece of land specified in the Schedule hereto was acquired by the Mataura Town Board under “The Special Powers and Contracts Act, 1885,”
in trust for the Mataura Pastoral Society: And whereas the district intended to come within the scope of the said society has been subdivided, and the object of the society has been taken up by other societies of an agricultural and pastoral nature: And. whereas the said Mataura Pastoral Society has ceased to exist: And whereas the said piece of land is not required for the purpose originally intended, and the same is situated in the Town (now Borough) of Mataura, and it is expedient the said piece of land should be utilised for the borough:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Mataura Reserve Vesting Act, 1896.”
2 Land vested in Borough of Mataura.
The estate in fee-simple in the piece of land specified in the Schedule hereto shall by force of this Act, and without the necessity of any instrument of assurance, pass to and vest in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Mataura, to be held as and for a municipal reserve, free from the trust under which the same land was vested in the Mataura Town Board.
Schedule
All that area in the Southland Land District, containing 5 acres 1 rood 34 perches, being Section 14, Block XII., Town of Mataura.
