An Act to make certain Alterations in Streets in the City of Nelson.
Preamble.
WHEREAS the River Maitai originally passed through part of the City of Nelson between certain streets originally known as Shakespeare Walk and Milton Grove, but the river subsequently changed its course and now runs partly across Shakespeare Walk and partly through private lands adjoining: And whereas the Nelson City Council is desirous of re-forming Shakespeare Walk along the margin of the river as it now exists, and for that purpose wishes to acquire and exchange portion of a public reserve for land required for the road:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Nelson City Streets and Reserves Act, 1902.”
2 Land granted to Corporation to exchange.
The land described in Part I. of the Schedule hereto is hereby vested in the Corporation of the City of Nelson for an estate in fee-simple, and the Nelson City Council is hereby empowered to exchange and convey such land on receiving from the owner of the land described in Part II. of such Schedule a conveyance to the Corporation of such land in fee-simple free from encumbrances.

Part I.
All that parcel of land, containing 1 rood 22 perches, more or less, and coloured green, being part of Reserve Section 184 (proclaimed in Nelson Gazette, 21st December, 1866), bounded towards the north by Halifax Street, towards the east by part of Section 185, and towards the south-west by the present bed of the Maitai River.
Part II.
All that parcel of land, containing 28 perches, more or less, coloured yellow, being parts of Sections 185 and 186, bounded towards the north-east by the present bed of the Maitai River, towards the south by the original Shakespeare Walk, and towards the west by Reserve Section 184.
