An Act to vest in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Gore a certain Athenæum Reserve in the Town of Gore.

Preamble.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is vested in the Gore Athenæum (incorporated): And whereas, as a memorial of the coronation of His Majesty the King, the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Gore are desirous of establishing a public library in the Borough of Gore, and with that object have agreed with the Trustees of the Gore Athenæum to purchase the property of the said Trustees and conduct the said Athenæum as a public library, and with such object are desirous of having the said reserve vested in the said borough, and the said Trustees are desirous of transferring the other property of the said Athenæum to the said borough:

Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title.

The Short Title of this Act is “The Gore Athenæum Reserve Vesting and Empowering Act, 1903.”

2 Land vested in the Borough of Gore.

The land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby vested in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Gore for an estate in fee-simple, to be held by the said borough as a reserve for the benefit of a public library in the Borough of Gore.

3 Trustees may transfer other property.

The Trustees of the Gore Athenæum are hereby empowered to transfer all the other property of the said Athenæum to the Borough of Gore for the purposes of a public library.

Schedule

All that area in the Southland Land District, situate in the Town of Gore, containing by admeasurement 2 roods 4 perches, more or less, being Section No. 7, Block I. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 8; towards the east by Section No. 6; towards the south by Mersey Street; and towards the west by Ordsal Street.
