An Act to increase the Number of Members constituting the Lyttelton Harbour Board.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Lyttelton Harbour Board Enlargement Act, 1903.”
2 Act deemed special Act.
This Act shall be deemed to be a special Act within the meaning of “The Harbours Act, 1878,”
which Act and all Acts amending the same shall be incorporated with this Act.
3 Definition of “Board.”
In this Act “Board”
means the Lyttelton Harbour Board constituted under “The Harbours Act, 1878,”
and “The Lyttelton Harbour Board Act, 1882.”
4 Increase in number of members of Board.
From and after the passing of this Act the number of the Board shall be increased by the addition of four members, two of whom shall be elected by the Council of the County of Selwyn, one by the Council of the County of Ashley conjointly with the Councils of the Boroughs of Kaiapoi and Rangiora, and one by the Council of the Borough of Ashburton.
5 Amendment of “The Lyttelton Harbour Board Enlargement Act, 1896.”
The word “Linwood”
in the third line of section four of “The Lyttelton Harbour Board Enlargement Act, 1896,”
is hereby repealed, and the name of “New Brighton”
substituted; and the ratepayers of New Brighton shall be united with the ratepayers of the Boroughs of Woolston and Sumner, in substitution for those of the late Borough of Linwood, in electing a member to the Lyttelton Harbour Board under the authority of the before-mentioned Act.
6 Amendment of section 4 of “The Lyttelton Harbour Board Act, 1882.”
Subsection eleven of section four of “The Lyttelton Harbour Board Act, 1882,”
is hereby amended by repealing the words “by the Council of the County of Akaroa,”
and substituting in lieu thereof the words “by the Councils of the Counties of Akaroa and Mount Herbert.”
7 First election under Act.
The first election under this Act shall take place on the last Wednesday in the month of February, one thousand nine hundred and five.
