An Act to vest the Foreshore of Corsair Bay, Lyttelton Harbour, in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Lyttelton.

Preamble.

WHEREAS it is expedient that the foreshore of Corsair Bay, Lyttelton Harbour, shall be vested in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Lyttelton for the purpose of a pleasure resort for the people of Canterbury:

Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title.

The Short Title of this Act is “The Lyttelton Borough Council Foreshore Vesting Act, 1905.”

2 Vesting of foreshore of Corsair Bay in Lyttelton Borough Counoil.

Epon and after the passing of this Act the foreshore of Corsair Bay, Lyttelton Harbour, as the same is more particularly defined in the Schedule to this Act, shall vest in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Lyttelton absolutely, and shall be under the control of the said Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses for use as a pleasure resort for the people of Canterbury.

3 Power to Lyttelton Harbour Board to acquire foreshore of Corsair Bay.

Nothing in this Act shall operate to prevent the Lyttelton Harbour Board from acquiring the control of any portion of the foreshore of Corsair Bay without payment of compensation should the same at any time be required for purposes of harbour-works.

Schedule

All that area in the Canterbury Land District situate at Corsair Bay, in the Lyttelton Harbour, being the foreshore extending westerly from a meridional line 10450 links west of Mount Pleasant Geodesical Station to a meridional line 12450 links west of Mount Pleasant Geodesical Station: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 54087, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.
