Contents
An Act to enable the Canterbury College, incorporated under the Provisions of “The Canterbury College and the Canterbury Agricultural College Act, 1896,”
to apply any Sum or Sums of Money which is or are or may from time to time and at any time hereafter be held by or vested in the said College upon Trust or by way of Endowment for the Purposes of a Girls’ High School, or which is or may be available for the Purposes of such a School or in connection therewith, but not exceeding in the Aggregate a Sum of Five Thousand Pounds, in or towards or for the Purchase of Land adjacent to or lying in the Vicinity of that Parcel of Land belonging to the said College, situate at the Junction of Armagh Street and Montreal Street, in the City of Christchurch, known as the “Christchurch Girls’ High School,”
or in adding to the Buildings now used as such Girls’ High School or in connection therewith, or in the Erection of a New Building or Buildings to be used for the Purposes of the said School or in connection therewith.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Canterbury College Empowering Act, 1905.”
2 Power to purchase lands,&c.
Notwithstanding any statutory provision or enactment now in force, or any trust hereinbefore declared or created in respect thereof, it shall be lawful for the Canterbury College and the Board of Governors thereof to apply any sum or sums of money which is or are or may from time to time and at any time hereafter be held by or vested in the said College upon trust or by way of endowment for the purposes of a girls’ high school, or which is or are or may be available for the purposes of such a school or in connection therewith, but not exceeding in the aggregate a sum of five thousand pounds, in or towards or for the purchase of land adjacent to or lying in the vicinity of that parcel of land belonging to the said College, situate at the junction of Armagh Street and Montreal Street, in the City of Christchurch, known as the “Christchurch Girls’ High School,”
or in adding to the buildings now used as such Girls’ High School or in connection therewith, or in the erection of a new building or buildings to be used for the purposes of the said school or in connection therewith.
