An Act to constitute the Ohura County.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Ohura County Act, 1908.
2 Constitution of Ohura County.
The Ohura County is hereby constituted, and shall comprise all that part of the Waitomo County described in the First Schedule hereto.
3 Boundaries of Waitomo County.
The boundaries of the Waitomo County as altered by this Act shall be as described in the Second Schedule hereto.
4 Jurisdiction of County Council.
From and after the coming into operation of this Act no local authority other than the Ohura County Council shall, within the limits of the said county, exercise any jurisdiction or authority over any roads or over or in relation to any matter or thing in respect of which jurisdiction is conferred upon a County Council under the provisions of the Counties Act, 1908, or otherwise:
Provided that nothing herein shall affect the power of the Governor to proclaim any portion of the said county a borough or town district.
SCHEDULES
FIRST SCHEDULE Boundaries of the Ohura County
All that area in the Taranaki Land District, commencing at the south-western corner of Block IV, Pouatu Survey District, bounded towards the west by the Clifton County to the Mokau River, and by the Awakino County along the said Mokau River to its confluence with the Paraheka Stream; thence towards the north-west by the said Paraheka Stream to the north-east corner of Unukaimata 5b Section 2; thence towards the east by a portion of the east boundary of said section to the south side of the Paraheka Road; thence towards the north and north-east by the said Paraheka Road to its junction with the Waitewhena and Paro Roads; thence towards the north-west by the Paro Road to a point where the road turns off from Section 10, Block VI, Aria Survey District; thence towards the north generally by Sections 9 and 15, Block II, Aria Survey District, and by Section 7, Block III, Aria Survey District, to the Mokau Road; thence by the said Mokau Road across said road and by the north boundary of Section 12, Block III, Aria Survey District, and south boundary of Section 10, Block III, Aria Survey District, to where it strikes the west boundary of the Puhanga Block; thence by a portion of east boundary of Section 1, Block VIII, Aria Survey District, to survey district block-line between Blocks IV and VIII, Aria Survey District; thence by the said block-line between Blocks I, II, III, and V, VI, VII, Tangitu Survey District, to the Ongarue River; thence towards the east by the said Ongarue River to its confluence with the Wanganui River; thence towards the south-east generally by the said Wanganui River to the Whangamomona County boundary; thence towards the south by the Whangamomona County to the point of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE Boundaries of the Waitomo County
All that area in the Auckland and Taranaki Land Districts, bounded towards the north-east by Raglan, Waipa, and West Taupo Counties from the summit of Pirongia Mountain to the summit of Pareora Mountain; thence towards the south generally by West Taupo County and Ohura County as described in the First Schedule hereto to the eastern boundary of Awakino County; and thence towards the west generally by Awakino and Kawhia Counties to the place of commencement.
