An Act to empower the Council of the Borough of Riverton to borrow the Sum of Fourteen Thousand Dollars for the Purpose of Harbour Constructive Works.
The words
“Fourteen Thousand Dollars”
were substituted, as from 10 July 1967, for the words“Seven Thousand Pounds”
pursuant to section 7(1) Decimal Currency Act 1964 (1964 No 27).

Preamble
WHEREAS the Riverton Harbour Board, a duly constituted Board under The Harbours Act 1878, was empowered by The Riverton Harbour Endowment and Borrowing Act 1878, to borrow any sum of money not exceeding four thousand dollars for harbour-improvements: And whereas by The Riverton Corporation Empowering Act 1889, the said Riverton Harbour Board was dissolved, and the whole of the real and personal property vested in or held by the Riverton Harbour Board at the time of the dissolution was vested in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Rivertion; and all the powers, functions, duties, and authorities conferred on the Riverton Harbour Board by The Harbours Act 1878, were conferred on the Corporation of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Riverton: And whereas it is expedient that the said Corporation should be empowered to borrow a further sum or sums of money, not exceeding fourteen thousand dollars, for the purpose of constructing harbour-works within the Harbour or Port of Riverton:

were substituted, as from 10 July 1967, for the words“two thousand pounds”
and“seven thousand pounds”
pursuant to section 7(1) Decimal Currency Act 1964 (1964 No 27).
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Riverton Harbour Loan and Empowering Act 1911.
2 Power to borrow

It shall be lawful for the Riverton Borough Council, from time to time as it may require, to borrow the sum of fourteen thousand dollars for the purpose of constructing harbour-works within the Harbour or Port of Riverton.

pursuant to section 7(1) Decimal Currency Act 1964 (1964 No 27).
3 Security for the loan
The said Council may pledge any property vested in it under The Riverton Corporation Empowering Act 1889, as aforesaid as security for the said loan, but shall not pledge the same for any loan which may at any time be raised by the Council for other than harbour purposes.
4 Special Act

This Act shall be deemed to be a special Act within the meaning of The Harbours Act 1950.
A reference to The Harbours Act 1923 was substituted, as from 1 January 1924, for a reference to The Harbours Act 1908 pursuant to section 259(1) Harbours Act 1923 (1923 No 40). That reference was in turn substituted, as from 15 October 1950, by a reference to The Harbours Act 1950 pursuant to section 269(1) Harbours Act 1950 (1950 No 34).
