An Act to authorize the Auckland Harbour Board to borrow the Sum of One Million Five Hundred Thousand Pounds for the purpose of constructing Harbour-works.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title.

This Act may be cited as the Auckland Harbour Board Loan and Empowering Act, 1946.

2 Special Act.

This Act shall be deemed to be a special Act within the meaning of the Harbours Act, 1923.

3 Harbour-works authorized.

The Board is hereby authorized, subject to the provisions of the Harbours Act, 1923, to construct and carry out the harbour-works specified in the Schedule hereto.

4 Power to raise £1,500,000.

It shall be lawful for the Board from time to time, as it may require, to borrow, subject to the provisions of the Harbours Act, 1923, and the Local Government Loans Board Act, 1926, a sum or sums of money not exceeding in the aggregate the sum of one million five hundred thousand pounds.

5 Expenditure of moneys.

All moneys borrowed under and by the authority of this Act shall be applied and expended in the construction of the harbour-works and for the other purposes specified in the Schedule hereto:

Provided that the Board is authorized to refund to the Harbour Fund from the moneys borrowed under the authority of this Act the amount of any moneys expended from the Harbour Fund, whether before or after the passing of this Act, on purchase of building, dock site, and any amount so refunded shall be deemed to have been applied and expended for that purpose.

Lay-by and repair wharf.

Oil berthage extension.

Breastwork, reclamation, roading, Nelson Street to Halsey Street.

New administrative building.

King’s Wharf reconstruction.

Grade separation, King’s Drive.

Central ferry terminal.

Purchase of building, dock site.

Bayswater Wharf reconstruction.

Pilot launch.

Twenty-ton weighbridge and building.
