An Act to authorise the Wellington Harbour Board to borrow the sum of one million one hundred thousand pounds for harbour works and other purposes

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Wellington Harbour Board Loan and Empowering Act 1961.

2 Special Act

This Act shall be deemed to be a special Act within the meaning of the Harbours Act 1950.

3 Works authorised

The Wellington Harbour Board is hereby authorised, subject to the provisions of the Harbours Act 1950, to construct and carry out the harbour works specified in the Schedule to this Act.

4 Authority to borrow

It shall be lawful for the Wellington Harbour Board from time to time, as it may require, to borrow, subject to the provisions of the Harbours Act 1950 and the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, a sum or sums of money not exceeding in the aggregate the sum of one million one hundred thousand pounds. The money hereby authorised to be borrowed is in addition to any money heretofore authorised to be borrowed by the Wellington Harbour Board under any other Act.

5 Expenditure of money

All money borrowed under this Act shall be applied and expended in the construction of the harbour works and for the other purposes specified in the Schedule to this Act.

Extension of Clyde Quay Wharf, complete with shed, to provide facilities for overseas passengers and cargo and including the formation of a car-parking area	485,000
Additional amount for reconstruction of King’s Wharf including rebuilding of Shed 31 with facilities for overseas passengers and cargo and including shed cranes and 10 wharf cranes	522,000
Contingencies	78,000
Loan issuing expenses	15,000
	£1,100,000

The location of the said works is shown on the plan marked M.D. 11026 deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington.
