An Act to amend the Riccarton Bush Act 1914

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title and commencement

(1)

This Act may be cited as the Riccarton Bush Amendment Act 1979, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Riccarton Bush Act 1914.

(2)

This Act shall come into force on the 1st day of April 1980.

2 Board empowered to raise annual sum for maintenance

(1)

Section 10 of the Riccarton Bush Amendment Act 1947 (as amended by section 2 of the Riccarton Bush Amendment Act 1972) is hereby further amended by omitting the words “as from the 1st day of April 1973, to levy upon the contributories an annual contribution not exceeding $15,000”, and substituting the words “to levy upon the contributories an annual contribution not exceeding $30,000 or such higher amount as all the contributories agree to with the consent of the Minister of Local Government”.

The said section 10 is hereby further amended by adding the following subsection:

“(2)

For the purposes of this section, the Board is hereby declared to be a special-purpose authority within the meaning of that term as defined in Part IX of the Rating Act 1967.”

(3)

The Riccarton Bush Amendment Act 1972 is hereby consequentially repealed.
