An Act to provide for the Vesting in Christ's College (Canterbury), a Body Corporate incorporated by Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the late Province of Canterbury, intituled the Christ's College Ordinance, Session IV, Number 4, of all that Piece of Land containing Nine Acres Three Roods, more or less, upon which the College Buildings now stand, freed from certain Restrictions or Reservations to which such Lands are now subject.

Preamble
WHEREAS the lands described in the Schedule hereto were conveyed by deed dated the twenty-fourth day of February, eighteen hundred and fifty-seven (registered number 10737), to Christ's College (Canterbury) pursuant to the powers contained in the Canterbury Association Reserves Ordinance, Session V, Number 2 (1855), of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the late Province of Canterbury (intituled Christ's College Ordinance), in trust for a site for the said College and for grounds attached thereto, but with the proviso that if the said piece of land should not be occupied for the purpose aforesaid within three years from the passing of the said Canterbury Association Reserves Ordinance, or should it at any time thereafter cease to be so occupied, the said piece of land, with the appurtenances, should revert to the Superintendent of the said Province of Canterbury for the time being as though such grant had not been made or issued, and should thereafter constitute a part of the Government Domain of the said province: And whereas the said lands have since the twenty-third day of October, eighteen hundred and fifty-five, been in the occupation of Christ's College (Canterbury), and large sums of money have been expended upon the erection of buildings thereon: And whereas it is desirable that the said lands should be vested in Christ's College (Canterbury) freed from any restrictions or reservations:
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Christ's College (Canterbury) Act 1928.
2 Vesting lands in Christ's College (Canterbury) without liability to revert to the Crown
Christ's College (Canterbury), a body corporate incorporated by Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the late Province of Canterbury intituled the Christ's College Ordinance, Session IV, Number 4, shall hold the lands set out and described in the Schedule hereto free from the proviso contained in the deed of the twenty-fourth day of February, eighteen hundred and fifty seven, and the liability of the said lands to revert to His Most Gracious Majesty the King as in the proviso to the said deed contained, mentioned, or indicated:
Provided nevertheless that in all other respects the said lands shall be held by Christ's College (Canterbury) with the powers and subject to the provisions of the said deed of conveyance dated the twenty-fourth day of February, eighteen hundred and fifty-seven, and the provisions of The Christ's College (Canterbury) Act 1885 (as amended by The Christ's College (Canterbury) Act 1910), and notwithstanding anything to the contrary in section eight thereof contained.
Schedule
ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasurement 9 acres 3 roods, more or less, being part Reserve No 25, and being more particularly described in Crown Grant No 10737 (21/487), and being the whole of the land described in certificate of title, Volume 404, folio 160.
