An Act to amend the Mina Tait Horton Estate Act 1942

WHEREAS doubts have arisen as to the application of section forty-one of the Finance Act 1950 to the words “the termination of the present war” where used in the special context in which they appear in the Mina Tait Horton Estate Act 1942 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act): And whereas it is desirable to remove such doubts in order that all interested persons may know with certainty the date of expiry of the period of seven years mentioned in section three of the principal Act:

Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Mina Tait Horton Estate Amendment Act 1957, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Mina Tait Horton Estate Act 1942 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Declaration as to meaning of principal Act

The words “the date of the termination of the present war” where they appear in the preamble to and in subsection one of section three of the principal Act shall be read and construed as meaning the twenty-eighth day of April, nineteen hundred and fifty-two, being the date specified as the date of the termination of the war with Japan in a Proclamation by the Governor-General dated the twenty-ninth day of April, nineteen hundred and fifty-two, and published in the Gazette of the same date.

3 Private Act

This Act is hereby declared to be a private Act.
