An Act to amend the Nurse Maude District Nursing Association Act 1967

WHEREAS the Nurse Maude District Nursing Association is a body corporate established by the Nurse Maude District Nursing Association Act 1967: And whereas it is desirable to amend that Act to remove the restriction on the number of women who may be members of the Board of the Association and to make other amendments of an administrative nature to that Act:

Be it therefore enacted by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Nurse Maude District Nursing Association Amendment Act 1987, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Nurse Maude District Nursing Association Act 1967 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Interpretation

Section 2 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after the definition of the term “Board”, the following definition:

“‘Hospital board’ means the Canterbury Hospital Board; and includes any area health board or other body which assumes the functions of the Canterbury Hospital Board:”.

3 Election of Board and management of affairs

(1)

Section 12(2) of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words “of whom not more than four shall be women.

(2)

Section 12(5) of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words “North Canterbury Hospital Board” in both places where they occur, and substituting in each case the words “hospital board”.

(3)

Section 12(6) of the principal Act is hereby amended—

(a)

By omitting the words “Canterbury Branch of the Medical Association of New Zealand or its successors (hereinafter referred to as the Canterbury branch)”, and substituting the words “New Zealand Medical Association (hereinafter referred to as the Medical Association)”:

By omitting the words “said Canterbury branch”, and substituting the words “Medical Association”.

(4)

Section 12(8) of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words “Canterbury branch”, and substituting the words “Medical Association”.

4 Executive Secretary

Section 15 of the principal Act is hereby amended—

(a)

By omitting the words “a Secretary”, and substituting the words “an Executive Secretary”:

(b)

By inserting, before the word “Secretary” wherever else it occurs, the word “Executive”.

5 Private Act

This Act is hereby declared to be a private Act.
