• Preamble

  Whereas the Wellington Diocesan Board of Trustees (Church of England) Empowering Act 1937 enabled the Wellington Diocesan Board of Trustees to amalgamate into one Fund a large number of trusts administered by it for both diocesan and parochial purposes and prescribed the powers of the Board in relation to the investment of those trusts: And whereas the Anglican Church Trusts Act 1981 designated the Board an authorised Trust Board for the purposes of that Act, thereby giving to the Board the powers set out in Schedule 2 of that Act: And whereas the Board considers it desirable to exercise some of those powers in relation to some of the trusts held by the Board in accordance with the provisions of the Wellington Diocesan Board of Trustees (Church of England) Empowering Act 1937, but doubt has arisen as to whether or not the Board is entitled to do so: And whereas this doubt would be removed by the repeal of that Act: And whereas the Board is satisfied that that Act no longer serves any useful purpose, given the provisions of the Anglican Church Trusts Act 1981, and ought to be repealed: And whereas the repeal of that Act cannot be effected otherwise than by legislation:

Be it therefore enacted by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:
