Contents
An Act to apply a Sum out of the Ordinary Revenue to the service of the Year ending the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-nine, and to appropriate a Sum to be raised by the “New Zealand Loan Act, 1856.”
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand, in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
I There shall be applied for the service of the year 1858-9 the sum of £72,616 10s. out of the Ordinary Revenue.
Appropriation to services hereafter expressed.
There shall and may be issued and applied towards making good the Supply granted to Her Majesty for the Service of the year 1858–9, in addition to the sums mentioned in the Civil List Act, and other Acts, the sum of seventy-two thousand six hundred and sixteen pounds and ten shillings out of the Ordinary Revenue, to be appropriated towards or for the purposes hereafter expressed.
Class 1.—Executive
II £5,269 5s. for salaries and expenses of Executive Departments.
Any sum or sums of money not exceeding five thousand two hundred and sixty-nine pounds and five shillings to defray the Salaries, Contingencies, and Expenses of the Establishments following:—

IX There shall be applied for the service of the year 1858-9 the sum of £53,641 5s. out of sums to be raised under New Zealand Loan Act.
Appropriation to Services hereafter expressed.
There shall and may be issued and applied for the service of the year 1858–9 out of the sum of One hundred and eighty thousand pounds authorised to be raised by the New Zealand Loan Act, 1856,” for the purpose of extinguishing the Native Title to lands in the Northern Island of New Zealand, the sum of Fifty three thousand six hundred and forty-one pounds and five shillings, to be appropriated towards or for the services hereafter expressed.
X £8,641 5s. for salaries &c of Land Purchase Department.
£20,000 for lands in Province of Auckland. £5000 for lands in Province of New Plymouth. £20,000 for lands in Province of Wellington.
Any sum or sums of money not exceeding Eight thousand six hundred and forty-one pounds and five shillings, to defray the Salaries, Contingencies, Surveys, and Expenses of the Land Purchase Department; and any sum or sums of money not exceeding Twenty thousand pounds, to defray the costs and charges of Native Lands purchased in the Province of Auckland; and any sum or sums of money not exceeding Five thousand pounds, to defray the costs and charges of Native Lands purchased in the Province of New Plymouth; and any sum or sums of money not exceeding Twenty thousand pounds, to defray the costs and charges of Native Lands purchased in the Province of Wellington.
XI If next Session not held before 30th June 1859. appropriation to be the same for year ending 30th June 1860.
If the next Session of the General Assembly shall not be held before the thirtieth day of June, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-nine, there shall, and may be issued and applied out of the ordinary Revenue, and the sums raised under the “New Zealand Loan Act, І856,”
any sum or sums of money not exceeding in the whole the sums hereinbefore appropriated, to defray from the 30th day of June 1859 to the 30th day of June 1860, the like Salaries, Charges, and Expenses as are hereinbefore mentioned.
XII Sums to be paid by Treasurer under Governor’s warrant.
The Treasurer of New Zealand shall issue and pay the said several sums to such persons for the purposes hereinbefore mentioned, upon such days and in such proportions, as the Governor by any Warrant to be signed by him, shall from time to time order and direct, and the payment so to be made, shall be charged upon and payable out of such Revenues as aforesaid.
XIII Treasurer to be allowed credit for all sums so paid.
The said Treasurer shall, in his accounts, from time to time, be allowed credit for any sum of money paid by him in pursuance of any Warrant issued by virtue of this Act, and the receipt of the person to whom the same shall be so paid, shall be a full and valid discharge to the said Treasurer, in passing his said accounts, for any such sum as shall be therein mentioned,
XIV Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Appropriation Act, 1858, No 2.”
