An Act to continue the Arms Act 1860.
Preamble.
Whereas it is expedient that the Arms Act 1860 should be continued in operation
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows
I Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be the “Arms Act Continuance Act 1861.”
II Arms Act 1860, continued.
The Arms Act 1860 shall continue in force until the end of the next Session of the General Assembly.
III Correction of error therein. Governor in Council may alter scale of Fees.
Provided that the Form referred to in Section 31 of the said Act shall be Form B in the Schedule thereto and not Form C. And that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council in any case when he may think proper to alter or vary the scale of Fees imposed in the Schedule to the said Act Provided that they be not so altered as to exceed the amounts thereby fixed.
IV Governor in Council may relax regulations.
Provided always that it shall be lawful for the Governor by an Order in Council to be published in the Government Gazette from time to time to suspend or relax the operation of any of the provisions of the said Act or any part of any such provisions and either for a limited time or without any limit of time and either as regards the whole Colony or any District thereof to be defined in any such Order in Council and either generally or in favour of any person or persons specifically or any class of persons and subject to any regulations or conditions which may be in any such Order in Council expressed but so far only as such provisions may prevent or interfere with the sale or purchase of Arms Ammunition Gunpowder Lead Caps or Shot for mining sporting or any useful or harmless purpose and no further or otherwise anything in this Act contained to the contrary notwithstanding Provided also that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council by any further Order in Council to be published as aforesaid from time to time to rescind any such Order.

“The Arms Act 1860”
and this Act shall by virtue hereof be in force within Stewart’s Island the Chatham Islands and all other Islands if any within the limits of the Colony not included within any Province.
