An Act to Validate certain acts done by R. H. Forman as Registrar of Deeds for the Province of Otago.

Preamble.

WHEREAS Richard Leslie Jeffreys the Registrar of Deeds for the Province of Otago departed this life on the 11th day of March 1864 after having been incapacitated from illness to discharge the duties of his office on and from the 25th day of February preceding And whereas on the commencement of the illness of the said Richard Leslie Jeffreys that is to say on the said 25th day of February Robert Henry Forman undertook and discharged the duties of the said Richard Leslie Jeffreys as such Registrar of Deeds without having received any lawful appointment to such office and continued to discharge such duties until the 2nd day of April in the said year both days inclusive and during the period aforesaid received for registration and registered a great number of Deeds and other Instruments authorised to be registered in the Registry of Deeds and did other acts as such Registrar as aforesaid and it is expedient to validate all such acts and proceedings of the said Robert Henry Forman:

Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows:

I Short Title.

The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Registration of Deeds Validation Act (Otago) 1864.”

II Validity of acts done by R. H. Forman.

All Deeds and other Instruments registered or purported to be registered by the said Robert Henry Forman in the Registry of Deeds in Otago between the 25th day of February and the 2nd day of April 1864 both inclusive shall by virtue of this Act be as well and effectually registered and all acts signatures and things done or made or purported to be done or made by the said Robert Henry Forman during the period aforesaid as Registrar of Deeds shall be as well and effectually done and made as if the said Robert Henry Forman had been duly appointed the Registrar of Deeds for the said Province on the 24th day of February 1864 and had held the same office until 3rd day of April succeeding.

III Registration &c to be noticed in Courts.

All such registrations acts signatures and things and the seal of the Registry of Deeds at Otago impressed during the said period shall be noticed in all Courts and other places and shall have the same force and effect as if the said Robert Henry Forman had been duly appointed as aforesaid.
