An Act to amend and continue “The Arms Act 1860.”
Preamble.
WHEREAS it is expedient that “The Arms Act 1860”
as amended by “The Arms Act Continuance Act 1861”
should he amended and continued in operation
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows—
I Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Arms Act Amendment and Continuance Act 1866.”
II “Arms Act 1860”
continued.
“The Arms Act 1860”
as amended by “The Arms Act Continuance Act 1861”
and by this Act shall remain and continue in force for five years from the passing of this Act.
III Amendment of sections 28 and 61 of “Arms Act 1860.”
In the twenty-eighth section of “The Arms Act 1860”
the words “a misdemeanour”
shall be substituted for the word “felony”
and in the sixty-first section of the said “Arms Act 1860”
there shall be added after the words “three years”
the words following “or to be imprisoned for any term not exceeding two years with or without hard labour and with or without solitary confinement”
And the said “Arms Act 1860”
shall hereafter be read and construed as if the words hereby substituted and added had been originally substituted in and added to the said “Arms Act 1860.”
