An Act to make specific provision for the salaries and expenses of certain Judicial Officers and Courts on the Otago Gold Fields.
Preamble.
WHEREAS by “The Gold Fields Act 1866”
and “The Gold Fields Act Amendment Act 1867”
it is provided that the costs charges and expenses incidental to the management of the gold fields shall be regulated in such manner as shall be directed by the Governor in Council And whereas it is expedient to make more specific provision for the maintenance of certain judicial officers on the gold fields in the Province of Otago
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Otago Gold Fields Judicial Officers Act 1867.”
2 Certain salaries may be paid.
From and out of the revenues and receipts arising from fees fines rents royalties or in any other manner under any Act for the time being in force for the management of the gold fields there may be issued and applied any sum or sums of money not exceeding five thousand two hundred and twenty-five pounds to defray the salaries contingencies and expenses of the following departments that is to say—

3 Treasurer’s authority to pay.
The Treasurer of New Zealand may issue and pay the said several sums hereby appropriated to such persons for the purposes hereinbefore mentioned upon such days and in such proportions as the Governor may by any warrant to be signed by him from time to time order and direct and the payment so to be made shall be charged upon and payable out of such revenue as aforesaid.
4 Credit to be allowed to Treasurer for disbursements.
The said Treasurer shall in his accounts from time to time be allowed credit for any sum of money paid by him in pursuance of any warrant issued by virtue of this Act and the receipt of the person to whom the same shall be so paid shall be a full and valid discharge to the said Treasurer in passing his said accounts for any such sum as shall be therein mentioned.
