The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Nelson Cobden and Westport Railway Land Act Amendment Act 1867.”

In making any contract under the authority of the said Act for the construction of the railway from the Port of Nelson to Cobden and Westport it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to agree that when such railway shall be completed a grant of the same shall be made to the person contracting to construct the same or a lease of the same shall be executed to such person at a peppercorn or other rent and upon such terms and conditions as shall be agreed upon in pursuance of an Act to be passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Nelson authorizing such contract.

Provided always that every Act or Ordinance authorizing such contract shall be reserved for the signification of the Governor’s pleasure thereon.

When the whole of such railway shall have been made and the completion thereof certified as provided by the said recited Act it shall be lawful for the Governor to execute a grant or lease of the said railway to the person constructing the same for such estate and upon such terms and conditions as in such contract shall be specified.

This Act shall be read and construed as part of the said recited Act.
