An Act to enable the Governor to delegate Powers vested in him by an Ordinance intituled “An Ordinance to provide for the Establishment and Maintenance of a Constabulary Force.”
Preamble.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Lieutenant-Governor of New Zealand with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof intituled “An Ordinance to provide for the Establishment and Maintenance of a Constabulary Force”
the Governor is empowered to cause men to be embodied to serve as an Armed Police Force and by warrant under his hand to appoint Commissioners Inspectors and other officers of such Force and such Commissioners Inspectors and other officers from time to time to displace and remove and to appoint others And whereas by the said Ordinance the Governor is further empowered to make regulations respecting the training arms and accoutrements clothing and equipment of such Force and respecting all other matters connected therewith as may be required for promoting the discipline and efficiency thereof and also to direct the employment and distribution of the said Force as to the Governor shall seem meet And whereas it is expedient that the Governor should be empowered to delegate in manner hereinafter appearing the powers conferred on him by the said Ordinance
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Constabulary Force Ordinance Amendment Act 1868.”
2 Governor may delegate powers.
It shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time to delegate to any person or persons all or any of the powers conferred on or vested in the Governor by the said Ordinance intituled “An Ordinance to provide for the Establishment and Maintenance of a Constabulary Force”
and to restrict any such delegation so as to enable the person or persons named therein to exercise the powers aforesaid only within any Province County or other division of the Colony to be specified or described in such delegation and any such delegation it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council from time to time to suspend or revoke.
