An Act to provide for the Grant to Henry Ferdinand Turner of Four Hundred Acres of Land in the Province of Taranaki.
Preamble.
WHEREAS Henry Ferdinand Turner now a settler in the Province of Taranaki was formerly an officer in Her Majesty’s Forces and as such was engaged for many years in military service in the Colony of New Zealand And whereas the said Henry Ferdinand Turner left New Zealand with his regiment hut with the intention of retiring therefrom for the purpose of settling in New Zealand And whereas the said Henry Ferdinand Turner remained with his said regiment on active service so long as the same continued in New Zealand and immediately afterwards and as soon as could conveniently be done he sold out of Her Majesty’s Service for the purpose of settling in the Province of Taranaki or some other Province in which by the Land Laws there in force he might be entitled to a grant of land as a retired military officer but by reason of his so continuing with his regiment he was unable to prefer his claim to such grant till after the said Land Laws in the Province of Taranaki had ceased to be in force And whereas the said Henry Ferdinand Turner is desirous of settling in the Province of Taranaki and it is expedient that he should receive such grant of land as he would have been entitled to save as aforesaid
