The Short Title of this Act shall he “The Invercargill Public Gardens Reserves Alienation Act 1871.”

It shall be lawful for the Superintendent of the said Province to sell the lands described in the annexed Schedule and to grant to the purchaser or purchasers of the same a sufficient assurance or conveyance thereof on payment of the price which shall be paid to the Receiver of the Land Revenue of the said Province any Resolution or Ordinance of the said Province or of the late Province of Southland or Act of the General Assembly to the contrary notwithstanding Provided that all moneys received from the sale of such lands shall be devoted under the authority of the Corporation of Invercargill to the utilization and ornamentation of the remaining Reserves attached to the Town of Invercargill and no other purpose.
