The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Gold Fields Act 1866 Amendment Act, 1873.”

The proviso to section fifty-two of “The Gold Fields Act, 1866,” is hereby repealed, so far as regards the Province of Nelson, and the following proviso substituted in lieu thereof:—Provided that when at the expiration of any such lease of land within the Province of Nelson the lessee shall not have purchased the land, and shall have duly fulfilled all conditions of such lease, he shall be entitled at his option to a new lease for a further term of seven years at the same rental; and at the expiration of such further term, such lessee shall be entitled to a Crown grant for the land so held by him without further payment for such land.
