WHEREAS by an Act of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington, passed in the twenty-first Session of the said Council, and intituled “The Wellington Education Act, 1871,” a system of education was provided for the Province of Wellington, and a certain body corporate, called “The Education Board of the Province of Wellington,” was created: And whereas by a resolution passed in the same Session of the said Provincial Council it was resolved that part of the lands of the Crown in the said province should be set apart as an endowment for the education of young persons in the said province: And whereas certain parcels of land have from time to time been reserved by the Superintendent of the said province as educational reserves: And whereas an Act (hereinafter called “the said Act”) was passed by the General Assembly of New Zealand in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one, shortly intituled “The Wellington Education Reserves Act, 1871,” for the purpose of making provision for the management of the said Education Reserves: And whereas the Education Board of the Province of Wellington was in the said Act incorrectly referred to as “The Wellington Education Board,” and doubts have arisen as to the authority conferred upon the Education Board of the Province of Wellington by the said Act:

And whereas it is expedient that such doubts should be set at rest, and that all the powers and authorities intended to be vested in the Education Board of the Province of Wellington by the said Act should be vested in such Board:
