WHEREAS an Ordinance was passed by the Provincial Council of Otago, in the thirty-second session thereof, shortly intituled “The Kakanui Harbour Board Ordinance, 1873,” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Ordinance”): And whereas the said Ordinance received the Governor’s assent on the sixth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three: And whereas the Harbour of Kakanui had not then been defined as a port under “The Marine Act, 1867,” but such harbour has by Warrant published in the New Zealand Gazette, number thirty-seven, of date first July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five, been so defined: And whereas it is expedient that the powers of the Kakanui Harbour Board under the said Ordinance should be declared as hereinafter provided:
