An Act to authorize the Governor to execute a Conveyance to John Chubbin, of certain Sections of Land at Waihi.
Preamble.
WHEREAS a certain block of land at Waihi, in the Patea district, in the Province of Taranaki, was amongst others acquired by Her Majesty under and by virtue of the New Zealand Settlements Acts: And whereas certain portions of the said block have been awarded to Natives as compensation for their losses by confiscation and as rewards for military and other services: And whereas John Chubbin entered into arrangements with the Native owners for the purchase of the lands in the Schedule hereto (being portions of the said block): And whereas the said John Chubbin has fenced in ploughed and expended money on the lands in the Schedule hereto, on the faith that such purchase should be completed, and has paid a deposit thereon: And whereas certain portions of the said block, including the pieces of land in the Schedule hereto, have since been purchased on behalf of Her Majesty from the Natives to whom the same had been awarded as aforesaid, with moneys arising from the sale of lands acquired under the New Zealand Settlements Acts: And whereas it is desirable that the said John Chubbin should obtain a proper title to the pieces of land in the Schedule hereto; but in consequence of the said pieces being purchased with moneys arising from the sale of lands acquired under the New Zealand Settlements Acts, the Governor has no power to sell the same or to execute a conveyance thereof on behalf of Her Majesty:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Chubbin Land Purchase Act, 1875.”
2 Governor empowered to execute conveyance.
It shall be lawful for the Governor, on behalf of Her Majesty, on payment at the rate of two pounds an acre for the same by the said John Chubbin, to execute a conveyance to the said John Chubbin of the pieces of land described in the Schedule hereto.
3 Purchase money to be subject to the New Zealand Settlements Acts.
The moneys to be received from the said John Chubbin, at the rate aforesaid, shall be dealt with and treated as if the same had been received from the sale of lands originally acquired under the New Zealand Settlement Acts.
4 Interpretation.
In the construction of this Act, the term “New Zealand Settlements Acts”
shall be taken to mean and include “The New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863,”
and all Acts amending the same, and all regulations made thereunder respectively.

Section No. 32, containing by admeasurement 50 acres 1 rood 33 perches; bounded towards the North-East by a road line 1390 links; towards the South-East by Section No. 33, 3633 links; towards the South-West by Section No. 41, 1390 links; and towards the North-West by a road line 3628 links.
Section No. 43, containing by admeasurment 50 acres 1 rood 21 perches; bounded towards the North-East by Section No. 34, 1384 links; towards the South-East by Section No. 44, 3643 links; towards the South-West by a road line 1384 links; and towards the North-West by Section No. 42, 3638 links.
